History of CAAAV
From Social Justice Wiki
CAAAV was founded in 1986 as a coalition of groups in response to increased hate crimes against Asians and Asian Americans. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s CAAAV leadership began to organize more and more in response to system and state sanctioned anti-Asian violence. This violence took shape as police brutality, environmental racism, labor exploitation compounded by physical and sexual abuse at the work site, and deepening poverty resulting from a legislative war against the urban poor.
