My name is George L. Davis. I'm a senior government concentrator at Harvard University. Originally from Nebraska, I spent most of my formative years growing up in Omaha, surrounded by a small, but tightly-knit midwestern family. My interests include youth service and development, teaching, community service, politics, religion, history, and sports. On campus I'm a member of the Black Men's Forum, and Fuerza Latina. This summer I worked as an Senate intern in Washington, D.C. Last summer I worked for a Phillips Brooks House Summer Urban Program called the Keylatch Summer Program. Based in one of the Boston-South End communities, the Villa Victoria, the Keylatch program is an educational and recreational program of service. During the summer I taught math and english classes to fourth and fifth grade students. I also organized daily recreational activities, and worked to foster improved community relations through organized community collaboration projects. During my time at Harvard I also served for two years as a youth program director for the Blue Hill church of Christ in Mattapan, MA. Blue Hill's youth program provides activity-based social networks and support systems for teens from the Roxbury, Mattapan, and greater Dorchester areas. Involvement in the Blue Hill program, as well as the Keylatch summer program sparked my desire to pursue a career working with education/youth issues. Immediately following graduation I plan to pursue a law degree.
