Veronica Brooks
From Social Justice Wiki
My name is Veronica Brooks. I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I have much respect for New York and east coast, but L.A. is and always will be my city. I am one of a family of eight, yes eight! My parents are Rodney and Renee Brooks. My dad is currently serving as the first Afr.-American lieutenant for the Glendale Police Department, and my mother is homemaker/teacher.
My mother, Renee, homeschooled my five siblings and me until we reached middle school age. She still homeschools my little brother, age 11, and a few of the neighborhood kids. She is the most giving and dedicated person I know. She is my mentor and my role model. My mom is originally from the South Bronx. She never got a college degree, so she was excited to find out that #1 I was going to college, but also that I was going to one of the top schools in New York. I'm glad I was able to make her proud.
I have a B.A. in Economics from Barnard, and I am currently working in New York with a financial services firm. I have a passion for spanish. I had the privilege of studying abroad in Madrid, Spain in the spring of 2004, and I often visit Puerto Rico simply because everything about the island is beautiful. The people, the culture, the beaches, the rainforests...the list goes on.
My interests are playing and watching sports, spending time with friends, spanish, doing outdoors activities(camping, surfing, boating, etc.), dancing, socializing, and traveling.
