The essence of Mary Church Terrell's vision is captured in the phrases the "enfranchisement of my sex" and "emancipation of my race". Terrell dedicated her life to improving the educational, moral, economic, social, and religious welfare of women and children. In addition, she built institutions such as the National Association of Colored Women and the NAACP to ensure the sustainablity of her vision (see the Vehicles of Change section). Mary Church Terrell is truly an agent of empowerment, leaving a legacy of effective political mobilization and a genuine love and respect for Black People.
